Success Stories - Firstchance Carers
The Firstchance Carers Recognition Initiative was delivered in Newcastle in 2016/17. Firstchance is an early intervention service that provides support to parents and carers of children with a disability from 0 – 9 years.
From the time their child is first diagnosed with a disability, these parents go on a steep learning journey. There were 15 carers who took up the opportunity to participate in this recognition initiative. The graduation for this program took place on 30th March and all 15 completed and gained their CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support.
Through this project we have already has seen employment outcomes for several the participants, re-entering the workforce or entering the workforce for the first time.
